IT’S ELEMENTARY!
Debbie Farelli, Elementary Principal
Message from the principal
Welcome to Western Reserve Elementary. I am so
excited to get back to school, our students and their
families. This year will definitely be a different year for
all of us. In spite of the changes we have had to
make as a result of the pandemic we will maintain our
high standards and provide a quality education for the
students participating in traditional learning and those
who are enrolled in Blue Devil Online.
One of our core beliefs is that students can reach their
full potential in a positive environment that embraces
differences. We believe in educating the whole child
by meeting various learning styles and meeting
individual student needs. Positive Behaviors
Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) was
implemented to recognize positive behaviors and
provide supports for challenging behaviors. Everyone
knows that Western Reserve Blue Devils are
Responsible, Respectful, and Ready to Learn. We
celebrate our positive school climate through activities
that involve students and their families.
We realize that it takes teamwork to educate children.
We are grateful for the many volunteers that make
W.R.E.S. a special place to learn. The school family
members that come to help in classrooms, the visits
from the senior citizens in our community, the
programs put on by the local VFW, and so many more
help our students to grow both academically and
socially.
We are in a whole new world right now. This new
world has reminded us of the importance of family
time, the value of friendships, what it means to be a
strong community, to be inventive and resourceful, to
constantly grow, to never give up and to be Blue Devil
Strong.

In conjunction with Board policy, a mandatory fee is
assessed each elementary student. The fee covers the cost
of consumable workbooks, duplication materials, and other
educational items.
Please note that the supply fee has increased to $20. This
is the first increase in almost two decades. Fees are due by
Friday, October 2. Please make your check payable to
“Western Reserve Schools”. Students will not receive report
cards until fees are paid.
School Lunch
The price for a hot lunch including milk has increased this
year to $2.65. Additional milk price remains the same at
$.50.
Should you have any questions regarding your child’s lunch
account, please call the school at 330-547-4100, extension

School Volunteers
There are many ways to be involved in your child’s
education. We need volunteers behind the scenes and in
the classrooms. If you would like to help cut out materials
for activities, make copies, help plan family activities, or
work with PTO initiatives, please call your teacher. We
appreciate all volunteer services.
To assure compliance with Ohio law, volunteers at Western
Reserve Schools must complete a BCI and FBI check. The
fee for this service is approximately $60.
