10 TIPS FOR PARENTING MIDDLE SCHOOLERS

Carnegie Learning This   fall,   grades   6   -8   began   using   Carnegie   Learning   Math   Series.   This   series   is   a “blended   model”   which   means   that   there   is   a   digital   software   program   and   a worktext    that    students    use    in    class.        This    process    allows    students    to    have individualized   support   for   all   students   to   master   the   skills   and   processes   needed to   be   successful   in   math.   Our   middle   school   math   teachers   have   been   through multiple   days   of   training   and   professional   development   this   summer   to   rollout the   Carnegie   Math   program   successfully.      If   you   have   any   questions   or   need   assistance   with   resources,   please contact one of our middle school teachers and they can provide assistance.  There   is   a   link   on   the   Western   Reserve   District   website   under   Carnegie   Learning   Link.      Also   all   students   have accounts   that   allow   them   to   access   the   Carnegie   Math   book   online   at   home.         The   link   to   the   resource   page   is: http://resources.carnegielearning.com/    Thanksgiving Recess be November 23,24, and 25.  Classes will resume on Monday November 28th.   I hope to see all of you at parent teacher conferences on November 17th

As you start to look for shoes to begin the school, please consider the safety of your child and the others in the class. Shoes should be tied tight and stay on their foot. The laces should be pulled tight and tied on the top, not just put in the shoes. The shoes should bend easily. Physical education is not for a fashion statement, we need to be able to move freely. Some shoes are sold without laces, some laces are not pulled tight and I am told this is how they are to be worn, these are not safe for class. I would appreciate your co-operation with this in the upcoming school year. Thank you to the school families and the community for supporting our school.
